Desktop-grade audio architecture in a compact body. The DC-Tonfa employs a 24-bit discrete component 8-channel fully balanced pure R2R DAC architecture. It condenses a desktop-grade 8-channel R2R decoding solution into a compact device. The 8-channel R2R, true balanced, fully differential architecture effectively improves zero-point switching error and low-level linearity, retaining the essence of R2R while offering superior detail compared to traditional R2R. Balancing density, dynamics, and natural sound, it allows even a small device to experience the true charm of R2R.

312 low-temperature drift high-precision metal film resistors

The number of resistors is several times that of a traditional R2R small tail. A more powerful architecture, more perfect sound reproduction. The DC-Tonfa incorporates a total of 312 Viking low-temperature drift, high-precision metal film resistors to construct an R2R resistor network. This total number of resistors far exceeds that of traditional single-ended R2R resistors. A hardware resistor compensation network, constructed with 60 high-precision resistors, works in conjunction with FPGA software algorithms to rigorously control resistance errors and temperature drift, significantly improving linearity and consistency, laying the foundation for pure and realistic sound performance.

FPGA + Dual Accusilicon Femtosecond Crystal Oscillators

Digital Core Built for Sound Quality. iBasso has been deeply involved in the portable HiFi field for 20 years, accumulating profound expertise in self-developed audio algorithms. The DC-Tonfa uses a self-developed FPGA algorithm to instantly compensate for individual resistor errors, further improving the equivalent accuracy of R2R decoding. Combined with dual Accusilicon femtosecond crystal oscillators, it creates a precise and unified clock source. This effectively reduces jitter, resulting in a purer, more natural sound with richer and more realistic details.

NOS mode + four self-developed digital filters

Unleashing the more diverse sound potential of the R2R architecture. For a long time, OS and NOS have been almost the only options for R2R devices. DC-Tonfa, relying on advanced self-developed FPGA algorithms, breaks through the limitations of traditional frameworks and, in addition to NOS, has developed four self-developed digital filters, bringing richer sonic expression capabilities to R2R. While retaining the unique charm of R2R, it gives users a greater degree of freedom in sound exploration.

2 high-performance TI dual op-amps + 4 BUF634A. Powerful output, a mini desktop PC at your fingertips The DC-Tonfa not only excels in R2R decoding but also delivers outstanding analog amplification. Employing an OP+BUF architecture, the entire unit utilizes two high-performance TI dual op-amps and four BUF634A chips, constructing an audio amplification circuit far exceeding the specifications of small-sized headphone amplifiers. The DC-Tonfa boasts a powerful 800mW + 800mW@32Ω output, providing ample driving force and robust dynamic performance, easily handling a wide range of headphone types!

Linear Technology LT3042 Ultra-Low Noise LDO

Reference power with lower noise than battery. In the core of its DAC, DC-Tonfa has developed a dedicated regulated power supply solution around the Linear Technology LT3042 ultra-low noise LDO. It boasts output noise as low as 0.8μV and 100dB power ripple rejection, with noise performance even surpassing most battery-powered solutions in portable devices. This provides a clean and stable power environment for the 8-channel R2R decoding, fully unleashing the sound's potential.

High thrust with low power consumption

Say goodbye to battery life anxiety. Thanks to its efficient circuit design, the DC-Tonfa boasts top-tier power output for its small form factor, yet its actual power consumption is exceptionally well-controlled, achieving a balance between high power and low power consumption. In NOS mode, power consumption is below 100mA/5V (48K standard sampling rate), significantly reducing the burden on your phone's power supply. Even when paired with an iPhone, which has limited power capabilities, you can enjoy listening for extended periods.

0.96” OLED screen + multi-function knob

Easy to use, all in one. The DC-Tonfa features a 0.96-inch OLED display and a custom encoder, allowing for full-function settings via a multi-function knob on the device. Volume adjustment, function settings, and filter switching are all easily accessible, providing a more intuitive and efficient user experience.

Android APK + PC Control Panel

Enhanced tuning features unlock more sonic possibilities. Music/Games/Movies, handles all scenarios with ease Android phones support the accompanying APK—iBasso UAC, which supports professional adjustments such as digital filtering, multi-level gain, and channel balance.
